River Vartry Investigation Continues
IFI staff are continuing their investigation of an incident on the River Vartry in Wicklow which resulted in fish mortalities over a 9km stretch from Roundwood downstream of the reservoir to Ashford. In response to a complaint received at mid day on Thursday (June 28th) IFI staff immediately initiated an investigation .
Adult and Juvenile Salmon and trout were killed, however the precise number could not be confirmed due to the high water levels after the recent heavy rains. During the investigation IFI staff noted the presence of live fish along the effected stretch.
