IFI hosts public consultation on Annacotty Fish Passage Project
- Information session at Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy, on Wednesday, January 29th, 2:30pm-7:30pm
Inland Fisheries Ireland(IFI) is hosting a public consultation event on Wednesday, January 29th on improving the passage of fish at Annacotty Weir, Co. Limerick.
The session will be held at Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Castletroy, on Wednesday, January 29th from 2:30pm to 7:30pm.
IFI’s Annacotty Fish Passage Project team seeks feedback to help inform the most appropriate solution for improving fish passage at the river.
Commenting, Hazel King, Head of the Barrier Mitigation Division at IFI said: “Annacotty Weir presents a significant obstacle to the free movement of fish within the River Mulkear catchment, which is a Special Area of Conservation in the lower River Shannon.
“We invite all interested stakeholders to engage with the project team, who will outline the various options under consideration to address and mitigate this barrier.
“Feedback and input at this stage of the process are invaluable and greatly appreciated."
Information about the potential options to improve the passage of fish through the weir will be presented at the event.
More information is available at fisheriesireland.ie/annacotty.
