New salmon fishing bye-laws for Rivers nore and Suir

Bye-laws for the Rivers Nore and Suir were signed by Pat Rabbitte, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources today.

The Nore opens tomorrow, 17 March with a quota of 5 fish per angler to 30 September and a bag limit of one fish per day.

Catch and release methods apply at all times, single barbless hooks, no worms.

The River Suir is open on a catch and release basis from March 17 to August 14 and will be open as a brown tag fishery from 15 August with quota of one fish per angler in possession of a brown tag.

CONSERVATION OF SALMON AND SEA TROUT (RIVER SUIR) (CATCH AND RELEASE) BYE-LAW NO.  880, 2011

This Bye-Law provides for catch and release in angling for salmon and sea trout (over 40cm) in the River Suir (including the waters of the Rivers Clodiagh, Lingaun and Blackwater) in the No.3 or Waterford district during the period 17 March to 14 August, 2011 and a restricted bag limit of 1 fish during the period 15 August to 30 September, 2011. The Bye-law also prohibits the use of worms as bait and any fish hooks other than single barbless hooks in angling for salmon and sea trout (over 40cm) in those waters.

CONSERVATION OF SALMON AND SEA TROUT (RIVER NORE) (BAG LIMITS) BYE-LAW NO. 879, 2011.

This Bye-Law provides for a bag limit of 5 fish in respect of salmon and sea trout (over 40 cm) in the River Nore (Waterford district) during the period 17 March to 30 September, 2011 subject to a daily bag limit of 1 fish during this period. The Bye-law also prohibits the use of worms as bait and any fish hooks other than single barbless hooks in angling for salmon and sea trout (over 40cm) in those waters.
