A Great Day On the Mulkear

25/10/11

In what will go down in memory as one of the great days on the Mulkear, today students of Lios Na Groi, National School, Lisnagry, Co. Limerick helped to finish the new MulkearLIFE mural at Annacotty. The mural depicts the work of MulkearLIFE with Sea Lamprey, Atlantic Salmon and Otter.

In warm sunshine, the fifth class students under the supervision of mural artists, Neil O’ Dwyer, first sketched with chalk their preferred fish, birds, invertebrates, river features and mammals. Then using the brightest of bright colours they painted their sketches to add their very own artwork to the mural.

The students were joined by their schoolteachers and support, supervision and safety was provided by MulkearLIFE and IFI staff.

What was created by the many busy hands was truly remarkable. The children’s efforts have added great colour, LIFE and vitality to the overall mural. The children were congratulated by members of the Annacotty Tidy Town Committee including Committee Chairperson, Ms. Yvonne Fogarty who warmly thanked all the children.

MulkearLIFE would like to express its deep appreciation to all who helped make today a truly great day on the Mulkear. The rest is over to the schoolchildren and as they say, ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ so here are some of those pictures. All images Ruairí Ó Conchúir.
