Inland Fisheries Ireland announces €120,000 in funding for novice angling projects

Monday, 28th of September 2020: Inland Fisheries Ireland is inviting applications to a new funding scheme that aims to support groups and facilities to offer young people and novice anglers of all backgrounds and abilities opportunities to participate in the sport of angling. The “Angling for All” fund worth €120,000 will open for applications on 28th September. The grant allocation will be limited to a maximum €5,000 for any eligible project. The scheme is supported by the Dormant Account Fund. Applications are invited from any group that is engaged in developing novice angling in Ireland including:

  • Angling representative organisations
  • Angling clubs within the Republic of Ireland
  • Existing AFYDI hubs which are currently active
  • Potential angling hubs for use as a start-up grant
  • Local community groups or not for profit organisations

Suzanne Campion, Head of Business Development at Inland Fisheries Ireland said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome applications to the “Angling for All” funding call. The “Angling for All” initiative assists angling representative organisations and clubs to improve governance and engage with and grow angler numbers particularly within disadvantaged sectors. Angling is not just a sport it can offer young people new experiences and opportunities, it can also help develop a young person’s skills, self-confidence, motivation whilst promoting physical exercise and good health.”

Applications for the “Angling for All” funding call are now invited from angling representative organisations or any group that is involved in developing novice angling in Ireland. It will remain open for funding applications until the 13th October 2020 and applications must be done through the online application process.
